NAFA World Series
Area teams struggle at tourney

NORTH MANKATO — Lorentz Construction of Mankato and Buss Sports of Lake
Crystal both fell to the losers' bracket Friday on the second day of
competition in the NAFA Class A World Series men's fastpitch tournament at
Caswell Park.

After delivering a 1-0 victory over Crow Bar on Thursday, Lorentz dropped
an 8-7 decision to Budweiser Friday morning. Kent Hays and Rob Schroeder
smacked home runs in the losing effort. Lorentz resumes play at 11:30 a.m.
in Field 4 at Caswell Park.

Buss Sports had a 10-0 shutout over North Main Thursday but suffered an
11-3 loss to the St. Paul Brewers later that night. Buss suffered its
second loss, a 9-2 setback against Richards Wood Products Friday afternoon
and then was eliminated with an 11-10 loss to Ormrod Friday evening.

Eric Anderson took the loss against Richards Wood and Jeff Hohenstein was
the loser against Ormrod. Toby Kratzer hit three home runs for Buss in the
final game.

Tire Associates of Mankato tried to battle back Friday but wound up on the
losing end of a 10-9 score to the Colorado Dragons. Doug Zimmerman took
the loss for Tire Associates. The Mankato squad was playing a late game
against the Collectors when the paper went to press Friday night.

LeMay's Humphrey Street Bar & Grill of Lake Crystal rebounded from a
first-round loss Thursday to knock off Ten Pin Alley 9-5 Friday afternoon.
Trent Hollerich, Zac Roth and Zeb Roth each smacked home runs for the
winners. John Paul Peterson earned the victory, allowing seven hits.

LeMay's continues play today at a time to be announced.

The national 23-and-under tournament is also scheduled to get underway today.
